Let's All Concelebrate, Shall We?

From Northern Nevada Catholic comes this disquieting piece of liturgical abuse from a place that ought to know, Our Lady of the Snows (emphasis added):

This year the seventh grade received a gift from the religious in our community.  Clearly, they stand firmly as guideposts of the Catholic faith. Father Tony, our pastor, and Father Mike, our associate pastor, make attending school Masses relevant through their authentic connection with the students. Students eagerly await the Masses over which Monsignor Leo McFadden presides, hoping to be the ones to hear their magic number called which allows them the honor of sitting around Monsignor at the altar.
"Authentic connection"?  How about some "authentic liturgy"?  How about some awe, respect, and reverence for the Blessed Sacrament?  No one belongs on the altar but the priests and the altar boys girls.

Authentic and magic? That makes Masses relevant? Those priests must have been dozing in the seminary.

And I bet they're tearing their hair out with the advent (as it were) of the new missal.

Kids sitting around the altar also happens occasionally at my parish.

No don't dare involve children in the mass, keep pushing them further away. That'll keep 'em close to the faith. Publishing snarky comments about priests isn't really the role of the laity either is it, if you wan't to get all technical about it.

First of all, have the guts to put a name behind your comments. Chicken.

Secondly, "involving children in the Mass" has nothing to do with violating the rubrics or Canon Law. Oh, that's right; Catholic kids have no idea what those are because no one's teaching them! How can we "keep 'em close to the faith" when they don't even know what their faith is?

Sadly, you're a fine example of style triumphing over substance in the Mass, which has been going on since 1965. Thank God the biological solution is taking care of these liberal priests, while a new generation of reverent ones is coming up to replace them.

SAY THE BLACK
DO THE RED.
