Another Difference Between Here And "Back East"

On Wednesday, some parts of the Sierra in the Lake Tahoe area got up to six feet of snow. Schools in the Tahoe and Truckee areas were closed.

The next day? Not one school even went in late! I doubt that would have happened Back East.

When we lived in PA, the kids walked to school numerous times after snowfalls of a foot or more. They did close schools during the blizzard of 1996 and would have opened the next day, except the Governor over ruled them. This past Monday, we had 6 in. in DE, schools were closed for 2 days and started late the 3rd. Admittedly, we had drifts, and icing. I think the issue was finding the one snowplow for our county.

No way. Why are we such wimps back here?
